As well as developing and building eCommerce stores using Magento, Prestashop, OSCommerce and various other off the shelf solutions we began to look at hosted solutions such as Shopify and Volusion to satisfy smaller budgets but still provide a first class eCommerce platform.
When Claudia originally approached us it was literally to take her current site and make it work. So began our relationship and the development of the Claudia Bradby brand online. Though Claudia’s products were already being sold online the administration of their old solution was cumbersome and wasn’t giving them what they needed. Through a series of conversations we nailed down the requirements, agreed budgets and came up with a number of scenarios and solutions to suit Claudia’s business plan.
Budget being one of the major drivers we selected a solution that would fit both budget and scalability moving forward as the business grew and Claudia’s teams online knowledge grew. The solution needed to be simple to use and administer with the minimum of interfaces to manipulate but be flexible enough that it would allow them to grow as the online business matured.
We selected Shopify as the ideal solution to suit their requirements. We took a pre-built template (to keep costs low) and adapted that for Claudia’s brand, there’ve been several iterations since demonstrating the flexibility of a platform such as Shopify. Out of the box Shopify comes with every single element of eCommerce to run a store and for the elements it doesn’t support there is a well documented add-on/app based plugin system which we used to allow packing labels to be printed for each order.
Over a year on the store has generated strong results and has paid it’s initial investment many times over.
